Hello, I’m creative technologist, researcher and Senior lecturer in Creative Computing at Bath Spa University. I create, teach and research digital experiences across multiple platforms.
At Bath Spa University the creative computing course celebrates digital creativity, and explores the collision of technology and creativity, through animation, game design, web development. My teaching covers a broad spectrum of the Creative Computing discipline from teaching programming, through to UX, design thinking and creative entrepreneurship and innovation.
Back in 2015, I completed a professional doctorate with the Centre for Digital Entertainment, Bournemouth University. My research focused on audience engagement and monetisation of creative content in digital environments, specifically from a creative SME perspective.
My research interests continue to centre on audience engagement specifically in evolving digital environments and platforms and what this means for audience experience, creativity, culture and the economy, which includes (but not limited to):
• New technologies and what they do to enhance engagement through creative output
• The impact of digital environments on engagement and subsequent engagement behaviours (e.g. willingness to pay)
• Opportunities and limitations of digital tools and platforms for creative SMEs
• Enhancing student learning experience with digital tools
Prior to moving into Higher Education I spent 7 years with Award Winning Animation studio WONKY Films, where I produced across a number of platforms including for web, mobile and games for clients including UNICEF, RNLI, BBC and Bands2Market.
As a creative technologist this work continues and I create digital projects across multiple platforms using a range of tools and technologies.
If you would like to collaborate on a project please do not hesitate to get in touch.
